About Paint My Nutcracker
How It Started
It started, as many things do, with a mild domestic grievance.
My wife got swept up in the nutcracker painting trend and ordered her first one. While waiting for it to arrive, she started planning designs the old-fashioned way: I'd print full-page coloring templates, hand her a box of colored pencils, and then watch her carefully color the entire thing only to decide she didn't like the hat color and start over from scratch. Repeat. Repeatedly. If she had just colored a few pages and moved on, the story would have ended here.
I figured I could throw together a quick little web app over a weekend where she could tap colors onto a nutcracker and skip the printing-and-sharpening cycle entirely. Hand it to her, done, move on with my life.
Then her friends got ahold of it.
Turns out there's a passionate community of nutcracker painters out there, and they had opinions. More templates. Real paint brand colors. A gallery. Polls so friends could vote on designs. Collaborative painting sessions. Materials and textures. The "quick weekend hack" kept growing, and the creativity and enthusiasm from this group has honestly been incredible to watch. Every new feature idea comes from someone who's genuinely excited about making their next nutcracker even better.
I never expected to spend this much of my life thinking about nutcrackers, but here we are — and now there's a small team of us who wouldn't trade it.
